Health and Safety Policy

Last Updated: [31/7/25]

At One Dental, the health, safety, and wellbeing of our patients, staff, and visitors are of the highest importance. We are committed to maintaining a safe and hygienic environment for everyone who enters our premises.

Our Commitment

We aim to:

  • Comply fully with all relevant health and safety laws and regulations
  • Provide a clean, safe, and accessible environment for dental care
  • Minimise risks through careful planning, staff training, and regular reviews
  • Respond promptly and effectively to any safety concerns or incidents

Infection Control

We follow strict infection prevention and control protocols, including:

  • Sterilising all reusable instruments to meet cross-contamination standards
  • Using disposable items where appropriate
  • Cleaning and disinfecting all clinical areas between patients
  • Wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)

These measures are regularly reviewed and updated in line with guidance from the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the General Dental Council (GDC), and the Department of Health.

Fire Safety and Emergency Procedures

We have clear evacuation procedures in place in the event of a fire or other emergency. Fire extinguishers, signage, and emergency exits are regularly inspected and maintained.

All staff are trained in emergency procedures and know how to assist patients, especially those who may need extra help in an evacuation.

Equipment Safety

All dental equipment is:

  • Regularly serviced and maintained by qualified engineers
  • Checked before use to ensure it is functioning correctly
  • Operated only by trained and authorised personnel

Patient Safety

We take the following steps to protect your safety during your visit:

  • Carrying out risk assessments for treatments and medical conditions
  • Reviewing your medical history before providing care
  • Offering support for those with mobility needs, anxiety, or other requirements
  • Ensuring all staff are trained in safeguarding and basic life support

Staff Training

Our team receives ongoing training in:

  • Health and safety best practices
  • Infection control procedures
  • Safeguarding vulnerable patients
  • Emergency response and first aid

Reporting Concerns

If you notice anything that you believe could pose a risk to health or safety, please speak to a member of our team immediately. We take all concerns seriously and will investigate and address them promptly.
